The Minister responsible for transport infrastructure, Sorin Grindeanu, announced that the 15-kilometer section of the Sibiu-Piteşti highway and 49.52 kilometers of the Craiova-Piteşti expressway will be opened to traffic by the end of the year. These sections were completed before the deadline set in the contract. The minister emphasized: the opening of the 15-kilometer highway section and the 49.52-kilometer expressway section to traffic is expected at the end of this year, exceeding the 2025 deadline expected in the contract. Construction is progressing at a steady pace, which is also typical of other major infrastructure development projects.
According to the plans, the first 16-kilometer section of the highway to Curtea de Argeş will be handed over about a year earlier, in early December, while the remaining section is expected to be completed in the spring. Grindeanu also said that he inspected section 4, which connects to the A1 highway. The minister also reported that it is expected within a month, sometime between November 15-20. between, the first 20 kilometers of the Albota branch will be opened to traffic. The connecting roads between Albota and the A1 highway will be completed by the end of the year.
