The Pro Infrastructura Association confirmed that not a single kilometer of the 28.35 kilometers of the Mizil-Buzău West section of the A7 highway will be completed in 2024, contrary to previous promises by officials. Although the contractual deadline expired in October, the opening on the planned date is impossible due to significant construction delays. The most serious delays include the construction of important crossings such as the 102H Mizil-Căldărușanca and 103R Istrița-Găgeni-Amaru county roads, where the necessary metal structures have not yet arrived for construction. Furthermore, the metal bridge at the Mizil junction is also seriously behind schedule, and the work on the bridge over the Sărata stream on the A7 is almost finished in only one direction.
The asphalting of many parts of the highway and the installation of crossings, barriers, painting and other finishing works remained unfinished. "Coni, especially Trace, where most of the backlogs are located, show no signs that the project can be completed in 2024, especially not before the elections," warn the officials of the Pro Infrastructure Association. In an extreme case, the only solution would be to close public access on county roads 102H and 103R, which would lead to the isolation of certain settlements and the development of a difficult situation at the Mizil junction, especially if we take into account the traffic on DN 1D road, which would overlap with the unfinished works of DJ 100C. The association warns that this traffic conflict can cause traffic jams and significant risks to traffic safety, thus exacerbating the inconveniences of locals and road users. Even if the two contractors were to speed up their efforts planned for the last quarter, according to the announcement of the Pro Infrastructure Association, there is little hope that the A7 highway will be expanded by even a single new expressway kilometer in 2024, contrary to the initial plans.
